A Software Engineer is now required by a leading worldwide provider of electronic warfare (EW), electro-optic, infrared and radio frequency test equipment across all land, sea and air applications to join their team.
Reporting to the Lead Software Engineer, the Software Engineer will Contribute to the design, development, testing and support of products within the Engineering Team. In particular, to develop and apply skills in embedded and application software engineering.

Key Responsibilities
Interpret requirement specifications and to propose cost effective software solutions exploiting existing ESL technology and identifying and minimising where new designs are required.
Design, develop, integrate and verify high level (PC applications) and low level (embedded systems) software in response to specific requirements using tools and concepts common to other ESL products where appropriate.
Support products throughout their lifetime and provide assistance to Product Authorities when required on technical issues.
To provide support to programmes on technical decisions, programme status and estimating at project reviews.
To work towards the collective growth and improvement of the Engineering Department and its working practices.
Essential Qualifications / Experience
Qualified in an engineering discipline
Experience of embedded software development in an industrial environment (ideally 2 years minimum experience).
Experience in delivering results on time and to budget.
Comfortable working in a disciplined and structured environment.
Good working knowledge of C.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in the use of MS Office applications.
Resourceful and innovative.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
Have a positive, pro-active attitude with a willingness to take on responsibility.
Desirable Qualifications / Experience
Degree qualified to at least 2.1 level, or equivalent, in an engineering discipline
Experience in defence systems software.
Familiarity with software design and processes.
Experience of bare-metal and RTOS implementations for embedded applications.
Experience of MS-Windows applications software development.
Familiarity with ARM and PIC processors.
Familiarity with C++ and assembly programming.
Familiarity with configuration control mechanisms.
