| Description |
A leading specialist in the design, construction and maintenance of data centre and other technology environments, operating across the UK and Europe. Recent growth has created a vacancy for a professional electrical design engineer who enjoys working across a range of leading-edge projects in a rapidly evolving industry.
Responsibilities
- To produce designs for data centre electrical systems including generator and UPS sizing (training will be provided)
- To produce electrical schematics both for sales documentation and for build drawings
- To produce detailed and accurate costings for labour and materials for electrical installations, working from written specifications & drawings
- To produce materials lists for electrical installations
- Create and issue electrical specifications to subcontractors
- Review electrical quotations and select suitable contractor
- Provide detailed scope of works for electrical elements of a tender
- Carry out site surveys
Background
- Qualified (HNC/HND level or above)
- Some experience with and currently working for a electrical consultant or contractor in a similar role (not necessarily with data centre experience)
Skills
- Good communicator, both in writing and on the telephone
- Good numeracy skills
- Experience with Amtech
- Competent in Word and Outlook and Excel
- Able to prioritise tasks and manage time, to meet tender return deadlines
- Intermediate level ability in AutoCad would be an advantage
- Use of costing software such as Luckins would be an advantage
Development
- Become a lead designer for a complete data centre build managing input from specialist build; mechanical; and fire colleagues / contractors
- Carry out on site reviews of works
- Carry out integrated testing upon completion of projects producing detailed commissioning reports
- Conduct on site customer training of all data centre systems
- Assist Sales dept with pre sales presentations
