Job Title: Ec&i Workshop Supervisor Scottish and Southern Energy
Description

SSE is one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK, and the Country's second largest generation business with a total capacity of over 10,000MW. We are also the UK's largest generator of electricity from renewable sources, owning and operating almost half of the UK's total renewable capacity. 


Slough Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Station is the UK's largest dedicated biomass energy facility. It has a potential generating capacity of 101MW, producing both electricity plus heat which is distributed via a steam and water distribution network to industrial and commercial customers.

 

You will lead a team of EC&I Fitters and Technicians to provide engineering solutions and assist in managing the engineering aspects of a busy plant.

 

Key responsibilities:


  • Providing technical assessment of power plant EC&I system defects and maintenance work 

  • Managing SHE method statements and risk assessments for all electrical and instrumentation work 

  • Ensuring that all statutory requirements for the plant are adhered to, including BS7671, Electrical Wiring Regulations, DSEAR: 2002 and CDM 

  • Providing technical input to the team on all outage, projects and inspections in preparation for long term planning and budgeting processes 

  • Managing maintenance strategies to maximise the availability of plant 

  • Arranging and managing contractors on an ongoing basis 

  • Ensuring maintenance records are updated 


You will have completed a recognised Apprenticeship in a relevant Electrical, Control or Instrumentation discipline, or be educated to HNC level in a relevant subject. Knowledge of statutory regulations and an in depth understanding of HSE responsibilities are essential.

 

You'll have experience in developing routine preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, ideally within the power industry. You'll be highly organised with effective management skills.

 

The successful candidate will be subject to the Company's verification and vetting process. This includes a basic criminal records check.
