Job Title: Communications Technician Forces Recruitment Services Ltd
Description
A Communications Technician (Two-Way Radio) is required by a company within the Radio Communications Industry to install, repair and maintain MOTOROLA radio communications equipment owned and operated by the company. The Communications Technician will be able to install, repair (to component level) and maintain MOTOROLA hand portable, mobile and fixed site radio communications equipment including, but not limited to, portable radios, mobile radio, repeater and antenna systems, base stations and dispatch consoles and maintain all equipment to manufacturer’s specifications and standards, pick up and deliver job-related equipment using company vehicles and perform other job-related responsibilities as required.
The successful candidate will have three years of full-time experience installing, repairing, and maintaining two way radio communications equipment to the component level
OR
A Diploma/Certificate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and two years of the above experience. This experience must have been obtained within the last five years. (Equivalent combinations of experience and/or training may also be considered) A valid driver’s licence is also essential
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• The ideal candidate will have a knowledge and understanding of electrical, electronic and communications theory.
• The ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems occurring on portable and fixed radio equipment and use technical equipment used in the diagnosis and resolution of electrical equipment failure.
• Soldering skills
• Knowledge and understanding of OFCOM rules and standards
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams and other job-related documentation
• Ability to recognise the specific colours and colour codes associated with electrical wiring
• Skill in job-related math and mathematical computations
• Basic computer skills
• Analytical skills
• Knowledge and ability to work with Windows Microsoft Office suite
• Oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work on step ladders and in confined spaces
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 60 lbs

DESIRABLE SKILLS:
• Knowledge of or exposure to repair and maintenance of other manufacturer equipment such as ICOM, Kenwood, Entel, etc.
• Knowledge of or exposure to Digital radio technologies
• IP and networking
• Software GPS tracking systems
