The Civil/Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for the completion of cost-effective and technically appropriate civil and structural designs and the management of external design resources to ensure civil and structural design output accords with the business requirements. You will also be responsible for the auditing of in-house and external design work to ensure compliance with company standards and the financial management of expenditure associated with in-house and external design work to ensure completion within prescribed financial provision.
Civil engineering and structural design is a key element for projects within the UK Power Networks area requiring the production of designs and specifications for substations and associated infrastructure for 132kV, 33kV and 11kV plant and apparatus.
As the successful applicant you will have:
- An understanding of the principles of civil/structural engineering design, including the production of specifications/designs and assessment/review of outsourced designs
- A broad knowledge of the construction industry, contracts and the process of design and construction
- A working knowledge of NEC3 and ICE type contracts will be an advantage
- The ability to work within a project team environment to deliver projects to time, cost and quality
- A minimum of BSc (or equivalent) in a relevant civil engineering subject is preferred however, experience and the ability to undertake the duties of this position are equally important
